HONDURAS | New energy law approved. On 31 August Honduras’s 128-member unicameral legislature approved a new energy bill in the third and final debate. Promoted by the conservative Partido Nacional (PN) government led by President Nasry Asfura, the initiative amends the legal framework of the electricity sector and transforms the state power company, Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (Enee), which has long reported massive losses, “without privatising it”.
