MEXICO: Sheinbaum hails progress in second Informe
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum delivered the second state-of-the-nation report, or Informe, of her term on 1 September. The report comes at a crucial time, as Sheinbaum is navigating difficulties within her ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) and facing pressure from US President Donald Trump. While recognising some of these challenges, Sheinbaum was upbeat as she summarised the progress made in areas including the economy, security, and social programmes. With midterm elections due next year, she also refuted rumours of internal party tensions.
