PERU: Anti-Fujimori protests announced

Keiko Fujimori’s inauguration as Peru’s new president on 28 July will take place against the backdrop of protests convened by victims of the dictatorship led by her father, the late Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000). The spark for the unrest was the promulgation of a new law which critics say will boost impunity for security personnel by ensuring that they can only be tried in military courts.
