Noboa fighting second recall petition

Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa is now facing not one but two attempts to remove him from office via a recall referendum. The latest petition, which the government asked the national electoral council (CNE) to reject on 7 July, accuses Noboa of diverging from his campaign manifesto due to the expansion of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in July 2025, three months after Noboa won re-election.
