*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its monthly estimate of economic activity (Emae) for April 2026, showing a 1.6% year-on-year rise, and a 1.5% drop as compared to the previous month, in seasonally adjusted terms. The monthly fall followed a rise of 3.1% in March and a 2.7% fall in February, while the year-on-year result was down from 6.2% growth in March but up from a 1.5% decline in February. The year-on-year result for April saw growth in seven sectors, with mining and quarrying posting the highest rise (+17.1%), followed by agriculture, livestock, hunting, and forestry (+10.9%). Eight sectors posted year-on-year declines, including fishing (-28.4%), and wholesale, retail, and repairs (-3.2%). The annual result was well below the 3.3% median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg and 2.2% growth projected by analysts polled by Reuters.
