*El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures showing that remittances to the country totalled a record US$9.99bn in 2025, up 17.8% on 2024. In December alone the country registered US$961.1m, the highest monthly figure of the year and up from US$814.8m in November. According to the same BCR figures, the US accounted for US$9.22bn of remittances sent in 2025, up 18.7% on 2024, while Canada accounted for US$84.8m (+1.5% on 2024), followed by Spain, US$68.9m (+17.3%), Italy, US$60.3m (+12.3%), and Mexico, US$13.0m (+4.7%).
