In brief: Mexico’s industrial production continues to drop in annual terms

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has reported a monthly 0.6% increase in industrial activity in November as compared to October 2025. This is down from a monthly increase of 0.9% in October but up from monthly drops of 0.2% in both September and August. The monthly rise in Inegi’s index of industrial activity (Imai) was driven by a 1.6% increase in construction and a 0.5% rise in manufacturing, while mining and utilities (electricity generation and transmission, provision of water and gas) registered no change from the previous month. However, the Imai dropped by 0.1% in yearly terms, following an annual decrease of 0.5% in October and 3.1% in September. Year-on-year, manufacturing was down 0.8% and mining decreased by 1.0%, while construction and utilities both rose, by 3.0% and 1.1% respectively.
