In brief: Guatemala posts rise in remittances

*Guatemala’s central bank (Banguat) has released new figures showing that remittances to the country totalled US$2.24bn, up from US$1.93bn in November and US$1.94bn in December 2024. This brings the total for the year to US$25.53bn, up from US$21.51bn in 2024. According to a report released in November by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the US accounts for 92.9% of remittances sent to Guatemala.
