BRAZIL: Soy traders withdraw from landmark environmental agreement

On 5 January Brazil’s vegetable oil industry association (Abiove), which includes the country’s largest soy producers and traders, announced it will withdraw from the soy moratorium, a private-sector agreement signed in 2006 that bans trading soybeans from land in the Amazon biome deforested after 2008.
