MEXICO: Progress made on US water disputes

Issues related to water have been causing friction between Mexico’s government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and the US administration of President Donald Trump in recent days. The US president has taken to social media to air his grievances over what he says is Mexico’s failure to comply with a binational water sharing treaty and to prevent sewage from flowing into rivers and across the US border. The governments have now announced agreements in relation to both issues, in another example of the conciliatory approach Sheinbaum has taken in her dealings with Trump.
