In brief: Mexico hails strong tourism numbers in October

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has announced that the country received 3.74m international tourists in October, marking a slight 0.4% increase year-on-year. Tourist numbers were up by a larger 16.9% from 3.20m in September 2025. Overall visitor numbers, comprising international tourists and day-trippers, were up 11.0% year-on-year at 8.30m. Visitor numbers were also up 14.0% from 7.28m in September. Revenue from international visitors rose by 9.3% year-on-year to US$2.44bn, a rise of 32.6% compared to US$1.84bn in September. According to the tourism minister, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the number of visitors and revenue from visitors in October 2025 marked a record for the month. Rodríguez said that, in the first 10 months of the year, Mexico received 79.3m international visitors, up 13.6% on the same period of 2024, while revenue from these visitors totalled US$28.22bn, up 6.5% year-on-year.
