In brief: Monthly drop in Argentina’s construction and industrial production

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published the latest industrial production index, showing a 0.8% monthly drop in October in seasonally adjusted terms. In year-on-year terms, industrial production in October was down by 2.9%. Accumulated industrial production over the first 10 months of 2025 was up 3.1% on the same period in 2024. The production categories which saw the steepest year-on-year drops in October were textiles, clothing, leather, and shoes (-17.4%), metal products, machinery, and equipment (-4.5%), and wood, paper, editing, and printing products (-3.4%). Indec also published its index of construction activity yesterday, showing a 0.5% monthly decline in October in seasonally adjusted terms. In year-on-year terms, construction was up by 8.0%, however, and from January-October construction was up 7.9% on the same period last year.
