*Brazil’s national council of coffee exporters (Cecafé) has released the latest monthly export figures, which showed a total of 3.58m sacks of coffee (one sack = 60kg) exported in November. This is down from 4.14m sacks exported
in October and 4.89m sacks in November last year. Regarding the major coffee varieties, robusta exports totalled 259,323 sacks in November, down 67.9% year-on-year, while arabica exports totalled 3.03m sacks, down 18.3%. Brazil’s top coffee export destination in November this year was Germany, with 681,165 sacks, up 27.99% year-on-year. The US ranked second, with 330,751 sacks, down 62.70% year-on-year. In a statement, Cecafé highlighted that from August-November the US had imposed steep tariffs on many Brazilian products, including coffee, and the statement welcomed the US decision
on 20 November to lift additional tariffs on many Brazilian agricultural exports.
