In brief: Remittances to El Salvador rise

*El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures showing that remittances to El Salvador totalled US$8.21bn in the first ten months of 2025, up from US$6.94bn in the same period in 2024. Remittances in October 2025 alone were US$852.04m, up from US$819.18m in September, and up from US$732.41m in October 2024, but down from the monthly high of US$899.08m in May. According to report released last month by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) the US accounts for 95.8% of remittances sent to El Salvador.
