In brief: Brazil’s job creation down in October

*Brazil’s labour ministry has released its job creation figures for October, showing a net 85,147 new jobs created. This marks a decrease from the net 213,156 new jobs created in September and 131,424 new jobs created in October last year. New hires totalled 2.27m in October this year, while dismissals totalled 2.19m. The accumulated job creation from January-October 2025 stood at a net 1.80m new jobs created, up 3.8% year-on-year. However, the accumulated figure over the 12 months through October 2025 came to a net 1.35m new jobs created down from the 1.80m new jobs created in the preceding one-year period.
