*Venezuela’s civil aviation institute (Inac) has announced the revocation of concessions for six airlines which suspended flights to Venezuela
following a 21 November warning from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about heightened military activity. The suspension of operating licences came at the end of a 48-hour deadline for the resumption of services which was announced by Interior Minister
Diosdado Cabello. The affected airlines are Turkish Airlines, Iberia (Spain), TAP (Portugal), Avianca (Colombia), Latam (Chile), and Gol (Brazil). Inac said in a social media post that
“for joining the actions of State terrorism promoted by the US government, their aero-commercial operations to and from Venezuela have been unilaterally suspended”. The statement did not mention Caribbean Airlines, jointly owned by Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, which also announced a suspension of flights; the airline had reportedly already halted services to Venezuela in September.
