In brief: Brazil’s tax take up in October

*Brazil’s tax authority, the Receita Federal do Brasil (RFB), has released the latest federal tax revenue figures, which show a monthly tax take of R$261.9bn (US$48.6bn) in October. This marks a 20.9% increase compared to R$216.7bn in September and a 5.6% increase from the R$247.9bn of revenue raised in October last year. The accumulated tax revenue for January-October 2025 stood at R$2.37tn, marking an 8.5% increase in nominal terms and 3.2% increase in real terms compared to the same period in 2024. In a press release, RFB officials are cited as highlighting several factors in October that contributed to the year-on-year rise in tax revenue, including higher revenue from income tax and taxes on financial operations (IOF) and macroeconomic factors such as a yearly increase in industrial production and services.
