*Bolivia’s new President
Rodrigo Paz has met with the World Bank’s vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean,
Susana Cordeiro Guerra, as he seeks international support for his plan to stabilise the Bolivian economy. In a social media post, Paz said that he, Cordeiro, and Finance Minister
José Gabriel Espinoza discussed
“technical and financial cooperation regarding our plan for government, prioritising infrastructure, productive innovation, and the strengthening of institutions”. This, he said, was part of
“an agenda for sustainable development with strategic partners to transform the country”. Paz, who took office
on 8 November, has said that international cooperation is essential to his plan to liberalise the economy and address shortages of fuel and US dollars.
