When the Caribbean Community (Caricom) celebrated its 50th anniversary in July 2023, its then-chairman, Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, remarked that “too many of our citizens are sceptical and some downright dismissive of the value and benefit of Caricom”. One of the reasons for this would have been lack of progress on free movement of people, and it was agreed to push towards this goal by 31 March 2024.
