PANAMA/REGION: Seeking to address deforestation

On 10 September Panama assumed the pro tempore presidency of the council of ministers of the Central American environmental and development commission (CCAD), which is part of the Central American integration system (Sica). At the session those present approved five regional priorities to shape the sub-region’s environmental agenda ahead of the latest United Nations (UN) climate change summit (COP30), which will take place in Brazil in November. Addressing deforestation featured highly on the agenda.
