*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures showing that the country’s unemployment rate was 6.9% in September, down from 7.0% in August and unchanging from July. The unemployment rate in Montevideo was 7.1% whereas that in the sparsely populated interior of the country stood at 6.8%. In September, the unemployment rate among women was higher, at 8.2%, compared to that among men at 5.8%.
