In brief: Monthly inflation up in Argentina

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the inflation figures for September, putting monthly inflation at 2.1% and annual inflation at 31.8%. This is up from monthly inflation of 1.9% in August and July but down from annual rates of 33.6% and 36.6% in August and July respectively. Of the 12 categories of products and services measured by Indec, the categories with the highest monthly inflation were housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (+3.1%), education (+3.1%), and transport (+3.0%). The categories to register the smallest monthly price rises were recreation and culture (+1.3%) and restaurants and hotels (+1.1%).
