In brief: Brazil’s services sector posts slight monthly growth

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the country’s services sector, showing a 0.1% monthly rise in the volume of services provided in August. Compared to August 2024, the total volume of services provided registered a yearly increase of 2.5%, and the accumulated services volume for the 12 months through August 2025 was up 3.1% on the preceding 12-month period. The monthly rise in August this year marks a deceleration compared to the 0.2% monthly growth in July and 0.5% rise in June, but it is still the seventh consecutive month to register an increase in services volume. Of the five categories measured by the Ibge, four saw a monthly rise in volume in August. The greatest increases were registered in services for families (+1.0%) and other services (+0.6%). The only category to register a monthly contraction was information and communication services (-0.5%).
