*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has announced that the country registered a trade deficit of US$590.9m in the first nine months of 2025. This compares with a US$299.1m trade surplus registered in the first nine months of 2024. According to the BCP, total exports from January-September reached US$12.7bn, up 2% on the amount registered in the same period in 2024. Meanwhile imports totalled US$13.3bn, up 9.4% on the same period in 2024. Within the category of exports, primary products (which totalled US$2.9bn) were down 15.9% in the first nine months of 2025 compared with the previous year, with soy exports (worth US$2.1bn) down 26.8%. However, exports of manufactured agricultural products, which were worth US$3.4bn, were up 10.4%, while exports of industrial manufactured goods were up by 4.5% at US$1.3bn.
