In brief: International tourism up in Brazil in September

*Brazil’s government has reported that that a total of 570,934 foreign visitors travelled to Brazil in September, up 28.2% compared to 445,000 visitors in September last year. This is a record figure for the month of September. The government also highlighted that around 7.1m foreign visitors travelled to Brazil from January-September, up from 6.8m international tourists in the first nine months of 2024. In the government’s 2024-2027 national tourism plan, the annual forecast for 2025 was 6.9m international visitors, meaning this projection has been surpassed in just nine months. During this period, 2.7m Argentines, 604,786 Chileans, and 564,160 tourists from the US visited Brazil. A total of 537,589 European tourists visited Brazil from January-September this year.
