In brief: Brazil’s industrial production rises in monthly terms

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the country’s industrial production, showing a 0.8% monthly rise in production in August and a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%. The accumulated annual production in the 12 months through August 2025 was up 1.6% on the preceding 12-month period. The latest monthly increase comes after four months of monthly declines or low growth – following a 0.1% drop in July, a 0.1% increase in June, and decreases of 0.5% and 0.6% in May and April respectively. Of the 25 product categories measured by the Ibge, 16 saw monthly increases in August. The most significant rises were registered in printing and recording equipment (+26.8%) and pharmaceutical products (+13.4%).
