MEXICO | Annual inflation edges up. On 9 September Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) released the consumer price index (INPC) for August, reporting that monthly inflation stood at 0.06% and annual inflation at 3.57%. Monthly inflation was down from a rate of 0.27% in July while annual inflation was up from 3.51% the previous month. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items like food and fuel, stood at 0.22% in monthly terms and 4.23% in annual terms, compared to a monthly core rate of 0.31% and an annual core rate of 4.23% in July.
