*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has published the consumer price index (CPI) for August, showing that monthly inflation stood at 0.0%, bringing the yearly rate to 4.0%. The monthly rate was lower than the 0.2% median forecast from analysts in a Bloomberg survey. The annual rate remains above the 3% target set by the central bank (BCCh). The August inflation figures compare to monthly inflation of 0.9% in July, when the annual rate stood at 4.3%. Out of the 13 categories measured in the CPI, five registered monthly price rises, with the INE highlighting rises in food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.9%). Six categories registered monthly price drops, with the INE highlighting home equipment and maintenance (-1.2%) and transport (-0.5%). Two categories registered no monthly price variations.
