*Brazil’s agriculture ministry has announced that the European Union (EU) has recognised that Brazil is free of avian influenza (bird flu) and will lift the suspension of poultry exports. The EU and dozens of other trade partners halted poultry shipments in May, after Brazil

free of bird flu in June. The EU’s decision was communicated yesterday in a video call attended by Brazil’s agriculture minister,
Carlos Fávaro, and the European Commissioner for health and animal welfare,
Olivér Várhelyi, who said that the EU will take gradual steps to lift the export ban.
