In brief: Brazil’s oil and gas production up in July

*Brazil’s federal oil and gas regulator (ANP) has published the country’s production figures for July, which showed a total of 5.16m barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) of oil and natural gas. The ANP highlights this as a record figure and the first time that monthly production surpassed 5m boepd. Oil production came to 3.96m barrels per day (bpd), up 5.4% in monthly terms and up 22.5% in yearly terms. Natural gas production in July this year totalled 190.89m cubic metres per day (m3/d), up 5.1% from June and up 26.1% compared to July 2024. The oilfield with the highest production figures in July was the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin, registering 799,370 bpd of oil and 40.53m m3/d of natural gas. The most productive processing facility was the Guanabara floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit, which is in the Mero oil field of the Santos Basin, registering 184,383 bpd of oil and 12.09m m3/d of gas.
