*Panama’s public works ministry has unveiled 20 road infrastructure projects to be awarded this year worth over US$474m which it says will generate over 10,000 direct jobs and 20,000 indirect jobs. These include the rehabilitation of 11 vehicular bridges in the capital, Panama City, the rehabilitation of streets in San Miguelito and Panamá districts in Panamá province and the highway Ruta del Café, in Boquete municipality, Chiriquí province. Public Works Minister
José Luis Andrade said that the projects represent a “
historic investment in public works which will impact the country”, describing them as “
a priority” for expediting production and providing security on roads and highways. He said that the start of the works is envisaged to begin in summer 2026.
