ARGENTINA: Milei receives IMF fillip

The Argentine government led by President Javier Milei received a boost on 24 July after reaching a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the first review of the US$20bn Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement it concluded in April. The successful review should unlock access to US$2bn for the government, which is wrestling with currency volatility amid, inter alia, pre-electoral disquiet from investors [WR-25-28].
