MEXICO | Headline inflation slows as core rates rises. On 9 July Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) released the consumer price index (INPC) for June, reporting that monthly inflation stood at 0.28%, bringing the annual rate to 4.32%. This compared to monthly inflation of 0.28% in May and 0.33% in April and to annual rates of 4.42% and 3.93% in May and April respectively. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items like food and fuel, stood at 0.39% in monthly terms and 4.24% in annual terms, up from a monthly core rate of 0.30% and an annual core rate of 4.06% in May.
