*Brazil’s ministry for ports and airports has released its figures for air travel in the first half of this year, showing a total of 61.8m passengers travelled on domestic and international flights, up 10% compared to the same period in 2024. This latest result marks a record figure for this period. From January-June 2025 a total of 13.8m tourists travelled on international flights to or from Brazil, up 15.3% from the first half of 2024, while 40m passengers travelled on domestic flights (+8.6%). Airports that registered significant year-on-year increases in the first half of this year included Rio de Janiero’s Galeão airport, with 8.2m passengers (+26%), and Belo Horizonte’s Confins airport, with 6.2m passengers (+15%). The country’s largest airport, São Paulo’s Guarulhos airport, registered 22m passengers during this period, up 8% on the same period last year.
