Various international press freedom lobbies and institutions have flagged up concerns regarding reports of criminalisation of the press by the police and military in Honduras, one of the world’s deadliest countries for journalists. These have attracted particular alarm ahead of the November 2025 general elections, not least given complaints regarding the armed forces (FFAA) relate to media criticism of its handling of the chaotic March primaries [WR-25-10] as we explore in the first piece in this July 2025 edition of the Latin American Regional Report: Caribbean & Central America.
