*Colombia’s state oil company, Ecopetrol, has announced that its Lorito oilfield in the central department of Meta is commercially viable and contains an estimated 250m barrels of recoverable crude. Ecopetrol said in a statement that this is its most significant declaration of commercial viability in the past decade. The oilfield was discovered in 2018 and is part of the CPO-9 block. Ecopetrol gained total control over production in CPO-9 in February after buying out Spanish energy firm Repsol, which held a 45% stake, for US$452m.
