MEXICO: Arguing against congressional reelection

Is it time for Mexico to revise its ban on the reelection of public officials? Earlier this year interior minister Santiago Creel floated the idea of allowing the reelection of mayors. Since then, several politicians and commentators have suggested doing the same for legislators. Esteban David Rodrí­guez, an expert on Mexico's congress who has just published a lengthy book on the subject*, says that now is decidedly not the time to do this.
