Electricity consumption in the world’s data centres will double between now and 2030, according to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) which says that the growth will be concentrated in the US and China. The two superpowers will be responsible for around 80% of the growth in data centre energy demand, with the European Union also growing but still lagging in third place.
