The promise of Latam-GPT
Chile’s National Centre for Artificial Intelligence has been involved in a project over the last two years to create Latam-GPT, a new large language model which specifically focuses on Latin American culture and outlook. CENIA says that although current LLMs are of high quality, “their understanding of the Latin American context could be enriched and refined”. CENIA is also eager to experiment with a more collaborative way of building an LLM, so that the product is “public, open, and inclusive”. Roughly 30 institutions and 60 experts at regional level have been involved in the work.
