*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the services sector, which showed that the volume of services provided in February increased by 0.8% from January and by 4.2% from February last year. The accumulated services volume in the 12 months until February 2025 was up 2.8% from the preceding 12-month period. Of the five categories of services measured by the Ibge, four posted a monthly rise in volume. The greatest monthly increases were registered in information and communication services (+1.8%) and other services (+2.2%). The only category to see a slight monthly drop was transport and postal services (-0.1%). Information and communication services is also the only category to have registered monthly rises in volume for the past three consecutive months, which the Ibge attributes to the high demand in Brazil for software development, content providers, data processing, and other services tied to the digital economy.
