JAMAICA: Homicide rate trending down

Although Jamaica remains a violent country, the number of homicides has begun to trend downwards. According to Security Minister Horace Chang, the total number of homicides dropped by around one-third in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2024. Separately, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that there were 47 murders in February, which he said was the lowest monthly total in 25 years.
