The discovery has reopened a deep wound in Mexico: the country’s enforced disappearance crisis. The incident is a reminder of the sheer levels of violence enacted by drug cartels in many areas of Mexico and authorities’ inability to bring justice for their victims – or even locate their bodies in many cases.
