PANAMA-HONDURAS | Blackouts. Panama’s national public services’ regulator (Asep) has announced an investigation into a national blackout which occurred in the late evening of 15 March after a thermoelectric plant, Pan Am Generating Ltd in La Chorrera district, Panamá Oeste province, exploded. Asep said the investigation would seek to clarify three key aspects: the cause of the explosion; how this led to the collapse of the electricity system; and the reason for the delay in services being restored.
