In brief: Peru’s economic output up in January

*Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that economic output increased by 4.07% in January, compared with the same month in 2024. Over the 12 months ending in January, economic output increased by a cumulative 3.53% compared with the February 2023-January 2024 period. Output increased in almost all sectors in January, with Inei highlighting year-on-year increases in manufacturing (+5.53%), ‘other services’ (+4.25%), transport, storage & messaging services (+7.85%), trade (+3.16%), government services (+4.44%), construction (+4.13%), and agriculture (+3.24%). Output in the crucial mining sector rose by 1.39%. The only category which saw a drop in output was finance and insurance (-0.35%).
