NICARAGUA | Remittances boost reserves. International reserves increased by 12.1% to US$6.29bn in February compared with the same month in 2024, the central bank (BCN) revealed in a report published on 12 March. Reserves receive a significant boost from remittances sent to relatives by Nicaraguan expatriates, principally living in the US; 83% of remittances entering the country came from the US. These amounted to US$448m in January, up by 22.2% year-on-year.
