*The Cuban government has announced price caps on rice and common beans (black, red, and white) produced nationally (both key staples of Cubans’ diet). This is as part of efforts to curb inflation, which closed last year at 24.88% in annual terms, down from 31.34% in 2023, 39.07% in 2022, and 77.0% in 2021. The price caps set the maximum retail price for rice at CUP155 (US$6.46) per pound while for common beans it is CUP196 with supply delivery and CUP285 without supply delivery.
