Argentine government bolsters border security

Security Minister Patricia Bullrich has been ramping up her rhetoric calling for greater efforts to tackle transnational crime around Argentina’s borders, highlighting government plans to shore up border security. However, for Argentina to combat the trafficking networks operating around these border regions, it will need to collaborate with its neighbours. Despite this, the governments of Bolivia and Brazil were initially not consulted about the Argentine government’s border security plans, which include building a fence along its border with Bolivia.
