DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | Record tourists. On 15 January the Dominican Republic’s tourism minister, David Collado, announced the country received a record 11.19m tourists in 2024 – an increase of 9% on 2023. Of those, 8.54m arrived by air, up 6% year-on-year, while 2.66m arrived by cruise ship, up 18% on 2023. The US accounted for the largest share of tourists (46%), followed by Canada (17%), Colombia (5%), Argentina (4%), and Puerto Rico (3%).
