Banana exports up. Ecuador’s banana exports increased by 1.57% in 2024 compared with 2023, to total 364.73m crates (1 crate = 18.14kg), according to a new report released on 27 January by the Asociación de Comercialización y Exportación de Banano (Acorbanec), Ecuador’s largest umbrella group of banana exporters. The Acorbanec report highlights that the European Union (EU) remains the main export market for Ecuadorean bananas, accounting for 29.06% of total exports. This is followed by Russia (19.01%), the Middle East (13.39%), and the US (11.83%). Other key markets include the Southern Cone (6.93%) and East Asia (6.31%).
