*Argentina’s far-right libertarian government led by President Javier Milei has announced another primary surplus, with the amount registered for January coming in at Ar$2.43trn (US$2.30bn), while the financial surplus stood at Ar$599.73bn. In a statement the economy ministry said that the primary surplus amounted to approximately 0.3% of GDP while the financial surplus was approximately 0.1% of GDP. This follows the government’s announcement last month that for the first time in 14 years the country had posted an annual fiscal surplus.
